In my career working in the state capitol I have served offices that have fought for you. While I was not the legislator, I was proud to be an essential part of the team that enabled these bills and resolutions to be heard or pass into law.
In a time of rising crime, it is more important than ever that we find officers willing to serve in Missouri's most dangerous city. I worked with Rep. Hicks in 2020 when he passed a law removing a state regulation requiring St. Louis police officers to live in the city. This greatly helped the effort to recruit more officers to serve in the city.
While working with Rep. Davis in 2021, I helped him draft an amendment which was added to a bill that ultimately passed, creating Missouri's official Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. Our Police Officers put their lives on the line every day, one day a year to appreciate them is the bare minimum.
The day after Ukraine was invaded by Russia, I knew the legislature needed to take action to protect Missouri consumers from increasing fuel prices. I brought a proposal to stop collecting as taxes for six months to Rep. Schwadron which he immediately filed. Although the bill did not pass, I moved to take immediate action for Missourians.
I worked with Rep. Lichtenegger in 2018 when she pushed legislation that would create an electronic tracking system for rape kits in Missouri. The effort was largely to bring attention to the some 5,000 untested kits in Missouri. Then Attorney General Hawley was working with Rep. Lichtenegger to find solutions to the problem. When rape occurs, investigations need to follow through to completion to get justice for victims.
In 2019 I brought Rep. Hicks language for a House Resolution that would thank ICE for their service and call on Congress and the President to secure the southern border. He ultimately filed the language but it did not pass. While the state of Missouri can't do much to affect illegal immigration, I am always thinking outside the box to find ways to encourage sanity in DC.
During my first year working in the capitol as an intern for Rep. Schroer, our office passed a House Resolution calling on the US Senate to confirm Supreme Court Justice nominee Neill Gorsuch. Justice Gorsuch later went on the be confirmed and is one of the best members of the court.
